Who is Karl Zone?

Hi. My name is Karl, or better known online as Karl Zone. I am 37 years old and based in Katikati, New Zealand.

I have been playing D&D and other tabletop role-playing games for about nine years and have been running games for about seven.

Before getting into tabletop role-playing games I spent a lot of time playing board games. Growing up I also played a lot of Fighting Fantasy books. I also designed my own board games.

Before being a professional game master, I spent 10+ years as an accountant. I worked in firms in my hometown Katikati, Wellington, and Tauranga. I've also studied martial arts since year 2000.

With my games I bring with me a thorough knowledge of the rules and have a pragmatic approach to their application - with the 'Rule of Cool' being applied at the appropriate time. I run my games with a sense of humour. Even in the most serious games I think it is important that we laugh, because we are supposed to be having fun!

I enjoy the tactical combat side of things. From starting in Adventurer's League, I learned a lot from other GMs. I also love the roleplay side of things. I love playing NPCs and I love seeing players roleplay amongst themselves.
